It’s not exactly a good-GOOD thing, but I find amusement whenever I ride the MRT. The MRT is the railroad transit that travels along the main road of Manila, EDSA. Majority of the working people ride it every morning and afternoon to go to work because it beats the traffic caused by the big buses.
However, because the MRT is convenient, an influx of people ride it during rush hours. What was supposed to be a convenience becomes a source of headache because you’re squished and pushed in order to ride the train.
The reason why I added this to my list is because every morning, when the train stops at the Cubao station, action happens. It is always a riot because (1) the train is full already and (2) there are a lot of people from Cubao who ride the train. So imagine the battle of dialogues from those already squished inside and those on the platform wanting to get in. I call it the soap opera of transportation.
“WAG MO AKONG SAKTAN!” (Don’t hurt me!)
“Siko nang siko, MGA WALANG PINAG-ARALAN!| (You keep on elbowing your way in, you act like you’re uneducated!”
“Sige! Itulak mo pa ako!” (Go ahead, keep pushing me!)
“Aba, nanunulak ka pa, kita mo na ngang walang space eh!” (Hey, can’t you see there isn’t any space left?)
“Kung ayaw mo masiksik, MAGTAXI KA!” (If you don’t want to get squished, go ride a taxi!)
Once the door opens at Cubao, it’s a symphony and shrieks and screams. If you’re riding in Cubao, you’ll be annoyed as hell. But for those safe and sound inside the train, you’ll find it very amusing. The people on the platform become antagonists.
Oh everyone should experience riding the MRT during rush hours. I tell you, it’ll be the ride of your life.
Have any of you experienced riding the MRT?
